After 13 weeks of trying, sweating, and semi-succeeding, I finally have a weekly fitness routine that incorporates both strength training and water aerobics. It might not be personal trainer-approved, but it works for me, my schedule, and my glutes. 🍑 Let me break it down for you:
It used to be water aerobics. Then I realized the instructor had less enthusiasm and energy than me. Ma’am, if you’re floating near the wall during jumping jacks, I am, too. So now? It’s me, a pair of dumbbells for strength training, and the Peloton seat that still has beef with my butt, all part of my weekly fitness routine.
It’s fun. It’s chaotic. It’s like doing cardio while being gently drowned. The instructor says, “Just keep moving!” My inner voice says, “You’re moving… toward the hot tub.” This water aerobics session is a wild addition to my weekly fitness routine, providing not only cardio benefits but also a unique way to complement my strength training.
This is where I physically and spiritually reset after my strength training sessions. My muscles are tender, and my soul is on Do Not Disturb. During this time, I don’t lift anything heavier than snacks, opting instead for gentle activities like water aerobics as part of my weekly fitness routine.
Today, we engage in strength training that sometimes hurts us. Kettlebells, dumbbells, and even the trauma we carry — all of it. The floor mat remains a challenge in our weekly fitness routine, much like water aerobics can be for some.
Back in the pool for one last splash. Why end the week dry when you can finish your weekly fitness routine with a mix of water aerobics and strength training, leaving you damp, gasping, and questioning your decisions?
Just kidding. I get around… to napping. I’m not partying. I’m not drinking. I’m recharging from my strength training, rolling out sore thighs from water aerobics, and glaring at my foam roller like it owes me money. These buns need rest, baby, especially after my weekly fitness routine.
I may not crush every workout. I may not hit personal records. But I show up. I move. I float. I squat. I scream internally. My weekly fitness routine includes a mix of strength training and even some water aerobics. And I recover like a champion — in sweats, with snacks. Me. I’m the Thicc Chick. 🍑 This is my routine. It’s weird. It’s working. And it’s mine.
